I choose vegetable-tanned leather (veg-tan) for its durability and its ability to tell a story. Over time, this leather will darken and develop a rich patina unique to your use and environment. It also carries a wonderful, natural woodsy scent—a hallmark of quality tanning using natural barks and tannins rather than harsh chemicals.

I use full-grain veg-tan for a reason: it’s a pure and tough leather. Since it’s tanned with natural tree bark, it starts out a bit stiff and raw—exactly how it should. This isn't the flimsy, mass-produced stuff that wears out. It is the gold standard that earns a patina as it ages. Every scratch and every year in use makes it yours. It’s tough, takes a burnish like nothing else, and in most cases, It’ll look better after five years of abuse than the day it left my bench. If you want a piece that feels personal instead of plastic, it's the leather you want.
